Process analysis of characteristics of different metal materials in sheet metal processing

Cold rolled sheet, hot rolled sheet, galvanized sheet, brass, copper, beryllium copper, aluminum sheet and stainless steel are commonly used in sheet metal processing. According to different products, different materials are usually used. Consider cost and required performance.

     1. Cold-rolled sheet SPCC: mainly used for electroplating and baking paint, low cost, easy to form, material thickness ≤ 3.2mm. Commonly used in the production of sheet metal cabinets. Ordinary cold-rolled plate means that the cast ingot is continuously rolled into a coil or plate of required thickness through a cold rolling mill. The surface of the cold-rolled sheet produced by the sheet metal cabinet has no protection. Oxidizes easily when exposed to air, especially in humid environments. If there is dark red rust, the surface should be painted, plated or otherwise protected.


    2. Hot-rolled sheet SHCC, material T≥3.0mm, also uses electroplating and painting parts, low cost, but not easy to shape, mainly flat parts.

    3. Galvanized sheet SECC, SGCC electrolytic sheet is divided into N material and P material. N materials are mainly used for surface treatment, and the cost is high. Mainly used for conductive materials, the surface treatment is nickel plating, chrome plating, or no treatment, and the cost is high.


     Hot-dip galvanized steel coil is a semi-finished product after pickling or cold rolling, after washing, annealing, soaking in a molten zinc bath at a temperature of about 460 ℃, the steel plate is galvanized, and then relieved. Leveling and chemical treatment. The galvanized steel sheet material is harder, has poor ductility (avoid deep drawing design), thick zinc layer, and poor weldability. The base material of galvanized steel sheet is a general cold-rolled steel coil, which is processed by continuous degreasing, pickling, electroplating and various post-processing processes. Galvanized steel sheets not only have the mechanical properties and approximate processability of ordinary cold-rolled steel sheets, but also have excellent corrosion resistance and decorative appearance.    4. Aluminum plate: generally use surface chromate (J11-A), oxidation (conductive oxidation, chemical oxidation), high cost, silver plating, nickel plating.


   5. Aluminum profiles: various plug-in boxes widely use complex cross-sectional materials. The surface treatment of the sheet metal processing plant is the same as that of the aluminum plate.


   6. Stainless steel: mainly used for workpieces without any surface treatment, but the cost is relatively high.

        Stainless steel SUS304: One of the widely used stainless steels, because it contains nickel, it is more corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant than steel containing chromium. Good mechanical properties, no heat treatment and hardening, no elasticity.

       Stainless steel SUS301: Cr (chromium) content is lower than SUS304, and its corrosion resistance is poor. But after cold working, the sheet metal cabinet can get good tensile strength and hardness in the stamping process, good elasticity, and is mainly used for springs and EMI.
